At what is likely to be the final World Cup of his legendary career, Lionel Messi will be seen donning new boots. Messi stated that Qatar will be his final appearance for his nation on football’s biggest stage in an interview with an Argentine journalist in October.
Adidas has unveiled the Leyenda boot pack, a limited-edition X Speedportal that was modelled after the +F50.6 Tunit boots that Lionel Messi wore in 2006 at his first World Cup. The Leyenda, which translates to “legend” in Spanish, aims to recount the events of Messi’s first and final World Cup when the 2022 competition gets underway in Qatar on November 20. The Leyenda is the third and final pair of limited-edition boot packs that Adidas has released in remembrance of its illustrious World Cup-era Adidas boots.
To commemorate the colours of the Argentinian flag, the special edition boots themselves have a colour scheme that is primarily gold with accents of blue, white, and black. Similar technological advancements to those seen in the X Speedportal are present in this special edition. Some of the highlights of the new boots include:
Contains at least 50% recycled material and was made with a variety of recycled materials. This item is just one of the ways in which Adidas is trying to reduce plastic waste.
Rigid-yet-lightweight carbon bits keep your heel in place during quick sprints as part of a sophisticated stabilisation system.
The Speedframe outsole is made for effortless acceleration and is lightweight and flexible.
A flexible collar that allows for easy entry, lighter comfort, and adaptable support.
For his first World Cup match against Saudi Arabia on November 22 and for the remainder of the tournament, Messi will wear the limited-edition model.
